Abraham Lincoln vs. Barrack Obama

Jul 16, 2009 Author Scot Cerullo

As you watch President Obama take from the producers and give to the non-producers, as you witness the enormous government power-grab of the private sector and the ever-enlarging nanny-state, one might wonder what Abraham Lincoln would have to say.LiberalBrain

Well, here is a quote from Mr. Lincoln that clearly shows how selfish and small Barrack Obama is:

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.”

“You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.”

“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.”

“You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.”

“You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.”

“You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.”

“You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”

So what happens when liberals remain in control for an extended period of time in a given city?

What do the top ten cities with populations over 250,000 that have the highest poverty rate share in common? They have been run by liberals for many, many years.

As Postalforum.com points out, “It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats — yet they are still poor.” Click here for the top ten list.

California and New York are choking on entitlement funding and the inability to say NO.

I sincerely hope the young people of this nation are paying attention.

Health Care Small Print

Jul 16, 2009 Author Scot Cerullo

I’m sure you all recall Obama’s frequent remark that if you like your current doctor you will be able to stay with him or her, and if you like your current insurance you’ll be able to keep it.

But on page 16 of the over 1,000 page health care bill is a provision that states  that private health care will be illegal.small_print_2_col

This glaring inconsistency with what was promised by President Obama prompted Investor’s Business Daily to contact the House Ways and Means Committee for clarification.

An editorial in the Investor’s Business Daily states:

“The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage,” the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states:

“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.”

In light of this revelation, still more credibility is given to what opponents of government-run health care have said all along, namely, that it would cause many private businesses to stop offering health coverage to their employees, forcing people no choice but to opt in to the government plan.

There are bad ideas, then there are absurd, childlike notions, and clearly this whole government health care idea falls into the latter category.

Despite horror stories from Canada and the UK, righteous, indignant democrats insist they know what is best for the unwashed masses.

Fight this!

Socializing America

Jul 16, 2009 Author Scot Cerullo

By now it’s clear to even a casual observer that President Obama is fast-tracking socialist legislation, appropriating entire private sector industries, pressing for a plethora of new taxes on producers and risk-takers, and greatly expanding the power and breadth of government.ObamaSocialism

The net result of these policies, by any reasonable measure, are not designed to get the U.S. economy back on its feet, but instead expand the existing welfare state far beyond its current design.

Because Obama’s agenda is so fundamentally foreign to most Americans, it is only now dawning on the collective voting, taxpaying public that the end-point of these efforts is not a resurgence of economic growth, but a glacial shifting of the morphology of our economic system.

Inherent in Obama’s speeches and unscripted comments is the clear, undeniable notion that the “Haves” must share with the “Have-Nots”. Whether expressly stated, as in the infamous Joe the Plumber comment about spreading the wealth, or in the manner in which he gave significant preferential treatment and reward to unions in the GM acquisition, Obama is operating on a set of principles that have been championed by the likes of Saul Alinsky and his pastor of 20 years, the colorful Reverend Wright.

And Obama is acting fast! He’s using his political currency to push through an agenda that is stated as one thing but in fact is quite another. For example, the Stimulus was sold to the American people as something which had to happen immediately. He spoke of shovel-ready jobs ad nauseum, and how it would put people back to work, stave off a further increase in unemployment and lay the groundwork necessary to get America back on its economic feet.

But less then 5% of the stimulus money has been spent, which prompts the question: If the idea is to act swiftly why is the vast majority of stimulus money not going to be spent for another 18 months? A closer look at how the money has been spent so far and one discovers that states are using it to supplement their individual budget crises, save jobs state budgets could not otherwise afford, and print road signs touting “Your Stimulus Dollars at Work”.

Quietly, and without much mention from the media, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner have traveled to China in a flassid attempt to convince the Chinese that the American dollar remains strong. At one Chinese university, Geithner was actually laughed at by students after making one such statement.socialism_poster

In a fevered attempt to ram through government-run health care, Cap and Trade, and other programs, the result will be a major increase in the cost of living for everyone, hitting the poorest among us the hardest.

So where does all this lead?

When the only growing sector in the U.S. is the government, when entitlements continue to increase, and given the fact that 40% of the public do not pay any income taxes, can anyone reasonably argue that this is a sustainable model?

When Reagan took office he faced a similar set of dire economic circumstances, and his prescription for recovery was the exact opposite of Obama’s. Reagan said that government wasn’t the solution; it was the problem, and the country went on to enjoy 25 years of growth.

American voters are tolerant but not stupid. What was a murmuring of discontent is becoming a loud, proud and defiant rejection of Obama’s statist policies. Democrats concerned about reelection are beginning to distance themselves from the Great Savior, and poll numbers reflect that Americans now trust republicans more than democrats to handle the economy.

It took a Carter to bring us a Reagan and I am optomistic that Obama will bring about his own downfall by overreaching and making too many bad decisions, as anyone with zero leadership or private sector experience would be expected to do.

Our job is to plug into our local Tea Party organizations, write letters and call our congressmen, talk with neighbors and fight these idealistic, child-like liberals every single step of the way.

The 2010 elections are coming fast. That will present an opportunity to reduce the disparity of republicans to democrats and increase the difficulty of further efforts to dismantle and reshape this great country into an unsustainable socialist experiment.

Make your voice heard. Remember, Obama only received 52% of the vote, and much of that had to do with our mistake of pitting a weak opponent against him.

This will not stand.

Cap and Trade = Tax and Control

Jul 15, 2009 Author Scot Cerullo

Perhaps more than any other single piece of legislation, the Cap and Trade bill embodies so much of what conservatives and republicans feel is wrong with this administration.

The Cap and Trade bill has it all: a false premise, increased taxes, bad timing, and more government control, all to the detriment of American citizens.

Let’s break it down.

cap-and-trade-and-government-spending1False Premise: The idea that capping emissions to reduce pollution may have merit, however, that is not what the bill accomplishes. It simply allows heavy industry to continue polluting, by purchasing so-called credits from green companies that pollute less. In fact, in countries where Cap and Trade has been tried, carbon emissions have actually increased. What it will do is increase the cost of living for everyone, since companies will simply pass the cost of these carbon credits on to the end user.

Bad Timing: Any legislation that puts further financial burden on American companies during a recession is simply poor timing.

More Government Control: Cap and Trade would continue the massive power-grab this administration is exerting over private business. More legislation means more bureaucracy. It will allow the government to pick winners and losers.

Cap and Trade also exacerbates President Obama’s childlike fascination with green energy. Evil polluters will be punished while promoters of unproven alternative energy sources rewarded.  It is also in keeping with Obama’s constant insistence that we must be willing to make sacrifices. Under this plan we surely will sacrifice. We will have less energy that is more expensive.

And it will cost jobs, even as we are witnessing the highest unemployment in more than two decades. As Sarah Palin points out in her recent column in the Washington Post, “Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years. So much for creating jobs.”

This is the kind of legislation you get when liberal democrats come to work on “Adult Day” and pretend to know what’s best for the rest of us.

Our country is rich with energy, including oil, shale oil, and natural gas, and our passion for innovation, combined with a respect for the environment, can free us from foreign dependence on energy, keep prices low and allow this country to prosper.

If Obama gets his way on Cap and Trade it will weaken this country, lower our standard of living and, ironically, hurt the poorest among us the most.

I hope “Adult Day” ends soon and these absurd left-wing loons are forced back to the shallow end of the pool where the children belong.

Stimulus Con Job

Jul 12, 2009 Author Scot Cerullo

throwing_money_awayWhen President Obama began promoting the stimulus package back in February, he extolled it as a fast and thoughtful way to jump-start the economy with an immediate, large influx of shovel-ready jobs. He and his PR machine were very clear that the stimulus, by design and intent, was needed immediately.

No time to read the bill. No time to consider the ramifications. Just pass it. Pas it now, or else civilization as we know it will cease to exist. (When it WAS passed, it took Obama three days to sign it into law, so, umm, that whole sense of urgency thing is a bit lost on me).

Well now. Let’s slow this bad-boy down an Obama-notch and take a closer look.  If Shovel-ready jobs really were the goal, if putting people to work NOW was really the objective, then why is it that only 5% of the stimulus has been spent? If the idea was to jump-start the economy when it was suffering most, why is it that the majority of the money won’t be spent for 16 months?

More importantly, have you seen how states are spending the stimulus money? They are using it to retain employees which their natural budget could not possibly accomplish.

In other words, states like NY are spending money to keep government workers on the payroll (saved jobs), by virtue of an artificial influx of monies. We are talking about jobs that would/should be cut in any normal universe and according to any normal economy, jobs that the current economy of NY, and many other states, cannot sustain, but due to the stimulus money, sustain them nonetheless.

What about the shovel-ready jobs? What about the shiny new highways and bridges?

Folks, you’ve been played.

The Stimulus package contains a tremendous amount of money earmarked for a shift in the energy priorities of the United States. This stimulus plan contains every possible liberal wet dream  program that has been sitting in a drawer for the last 40 years.

scamIt’s a shell game, a shell game with your tax dollars.

Obama should be ashamed of himself. While millions of people are losing their jobs,  while the government appropriates enormous chunks of the private sector, the stimulus provides a mere $12.00 per week for working folks.

How’s that Hope and Change working out for ya?

What you are witnessing is a macro-focused assault on the foundation of free enterprise. As I write these words, sadly, there are many elite, eastern liberals who really don’t have a problem with the concept of government taking control, because, in their heart of hearts, they truly believe educated elitists from ivy league schools know better than the small business owner, than the moms and dads who plan their family budgets, you know, the unwashed masses.

The good news? Want some really good news? The liberal democrats are overreaching, and they will pay dearly for it in the 2010 midterm elections.
