Chairman Steele’s Deafening Silence on the MA Senate Race

*Editor’s Note: The day after this post, Michael Steele sent out an email asking members of the Republican National Committee to donate to Scott Brown’s campaign. Though he has now endorsed Brown, the thrust of this post remains; Steele’s lack of urgency in supporting such a pivotal race, choosing instead to spend his time promoting his new book.

Furthermore, Steele must have know that Brown had swung 30 points in just one month and had numerous television and radio appearances. During that time Michael Steele was silent.

The past few days have been exciting for those of us keeping tabs on the special election in Massachusetts for the late Senator Edward Kennedy’s seat.

With the national pollsters ignoring this critical race entirely, we had encouraging numbers from Rasmussen Reports recently showing the Republican candidate Scott Brown down by only two points amongst registered voters. The national media is beginning to catch on that there is a vibrant and determined grassroots movement on the right to get Scott Brown elected to the United States Senate and, in doing so, break the filibuster-proof majority the Democrats have enjoyed and exploited since November of last year. 9a8970dc59_ltpscottbrown

Though if Scott Brown manages to pull out a win in his state, it will be without the help of the GOP establishment and especially not because of the Republican National Committee chair, Michael Steele.

I have absolutely no idea who the Chairman of the Republican party supports in a special federal election in Massachusetts, but I can tell you the title of his new book.  Chairman Steele has been on a media blitz promoting his new book this past week, appearing on Sean Hannity’s radio and television show in the same day, Mark Levin’s radio show and then On The Record on Fox Tuesday night.

It seems every time I have turned on my radio or my television these past few days, Michael Steele has been on….promoting his book. But he hasn’t breathed a word of the Republican candidate who has gained thirty points in the polls over the course of the past month; he has instead spoken of how the GOP can gain seats in the upcoming midterm elections- which apparently is possible if you….wait for it….buy his book.

michaelI have never had much of an opinion of the newest RNC chair. He was fairly unimpressive to me from the start, but I neither loved nor hated him.  I have changed my opinion as a result of his actions (or rather, inaction) when it comes to the quest for the forty-first vote in the United States Senate, especially when this election means the possible demise of the health care bill.

For a man who is hitting the media circuit hard, promoting conservative values and criticizing the Obama agenda,  you would think that he would use some of that time to promote and support a candidate who, by his very election, could stop the radical left agenda that has polarized the country like never before?

One would think the answer would be simple, but Michael Steele’s silence on the race in Massachusetts and his inability to follow through on the very topic of his own book is louder than his constant media presence these days.

Could not agree with you more – Steele's speil now as transparent as the rest of the bad actors in DC. Sent him a tweet today (@ChairmanMSteele) asking him to explain his position on The RINO Big Tent Doctrine. If only Charlie Gibson knew this doctrine existed, I'm sure he would be out of retirement, asking Steele for an interview.

Amen! I wrote my own "Dear Mr. Steele" letter a couple months when the RNC bombarded me with their "Republican Census". And that was before the NY-23 fiasco. Again, the Republican insiders have it wrong.
