Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steel is again proving to be anything but a bold voice for the ousted party.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a number of RNC members are not happy with Steele’s term “collectivist” to describe Obama, instead of simply using the word socialist, which clearly strikes the kind of strident chord we need right now. at a time when clear differences between the parties need to be made, emphasized and repeated routinely.
As the run-up to the 2010 elections closes fast, Steele is simply not doing enough to define the clear differences between conservatives and liberals, and his choice of words in defining Obama obfuscates more than clarifies.
We need bold, clear messages!
Why not Sarah Palin? She has the star power to command attention whenever she speaks, has a core set of principles that are closer to Reagan’s than anyone else out there, draws enormous crowds wherever she goes, and most importantly, she doesn’t pull punches.
If conservatives are to regain the majority it must be through a clear messages with simple talking points. Sarah can get us back on track and inject the adrenilin we need as the 2012 election draws closer.
So what do you think? Wouldn’t you prefer a vibrant, attractive speaker to a wishy-washy, middle-of-the-road choice?
Also, by being the the Chairman of the GOP, Sarah could stay in the spotlilght in a manner that plays to her strenghts.
Maybe she was a little rough around the edges during the last campaign, but Sarah is only going to get better and stronger.
She’s my pick for RNC Chairman!
I think Steele has the upper-hand, and doesn't even know it. I mean how much more could the Democrats mess up than they're doing right now. If I was head of the RNC, I would establish prominent media status quick . Communication is key. High Polling rates are needed to be effective . I supported RNC chair Steele when he came out too. I remember seeing him on Hannity getting vocal about defending Bush. Ever since he took his new position I have literally seen him once on TV giving a speech. We need someone to get up, and say how it's really is going down. Some style would help with pulling in some Independents who are weary of the current administration. If the Republicans can get a hold of the Independent votes they can win next time around. Steele just is not making the grade, and taking advantage of the situation at hand.
We need some charisma, and some bold leadership. Also, finding someone who is more closely related with the new generation needs to emerge. People these days judge people by their appearance. They want someone who is cool in their eyes. I know it sounds corny. That's just how it is these days. I am not even talking about the person necessarily picked to run for President. It's having Republicans out there that people can relate too. Going on TV shows, putting out music, making movies, and so on. They don't need to stray from their principals at all, it's a matter of incorporating them into popular culture cleverly. A good example, would be rappers love of making money. That's Capitalism to the max. I know for sure their lifestyles have nothing to do with Socialism. Except for family members begging for money. We know how much celebrities, and rappers hate sharing their money. Republicans have to be able to explain these concepts in a way the common guy/gal you run into on the street can understand. That's the key in my opinion.
The closest person to that right now is Palin who is listed on this blog as your pick. She's been doing better after getting off the ethics charges. Also, there's a lot money for her to make with a book deal and speeches. Good Call!
Great thoughts Mike.
I think you are really onto something. Steele finds himself amid an over-reaching democratic majority that is tripping over itself to spend, spend, spend, and to enact legislation that makes it more difficult to do business and reduces our civil liberties.
One need not be "a right-wing" fanatic to be cognizant of the insanity of this administration's agenda, and yet where is Steele? Where is the clear and powerful response?
Steele doesn't get it. It is a missed opportunity and fortunately, in spite of Steele and because of the over-arching liberals, I truly believe 2010 will be a genuine shift in power to Congress.
Thanks for the thoughts man. Really appreciate the thoughtful way you laid it all out.
