It appears the silent majority has been quite vocal these past couple weeks, lighting up DC switchboards in clear disapproval of Obama’s sweeping, costly legislative agenda, as well as frustration at Democrats in general.
Democrats across the nation are facing tough battles in the coming 2010 elections as signs of improvement from the stimulus bill prove evasive. Some states which favored Obama during the election have turned decidedly republican, including New Jersey where Democratic governor Jon Corzine’s approval ratings are at record lows and he is trailing his Republican opponent by 12 points.
A combination of a worsening economy plus highly motivated, involved grass roots efforts in every state has created a clarion call to halt the massive spending proposals being debated in Congress.
Liberal and moderate democrats alike, concerned about re-election, are taking a second look at their position, perhaps no longer certain of President Obama’s midas touch.
The latest Rasmussen Presidential Tracking Poll shows Obama at a -8, the lowest rating yet. Rasmussen subtracts the “strongly approve” from the “strongly disapprove” to arrive at this number.
Despite President Obama’s efforts to fast track health care reform and Cap and Trade, it appears growing opposition may cause elected officials to take a second, more thoughtful look at the legislation before them.

To tell you the truth, I thought the Presidents approval would take longer to drop. I think people are starting to have a hard time figuring out how the current legislation solves any of the immediate problems we face. We are having an economic crisis, yet they continue to spend like spoiled children who have been deprived for many years. Their logic supports the idea that the stimulus should be tied in with Socializing America. Having money pumped into the country is one thing. Overhauling the entire system is another.
All of this is being sold by so called Democrats as the answer to all the ill's of society. There is an army of Liberals running around defending everything congress is doing despite any true understanding of the consequences associated with this approach to governance. It's plain dangerous when amidst a financial crisis, and out of control budget. The average person does not get the fact that it will ultimately end up being their bill to pay for everything. It makes the Politicians richer, and the regular folks poorer. The people who end up being the most hurt are the next generation. The Liberals children will suffer at the hand's of their own parents ignorance.
You may ask how could this happen? It comes down to selfishness, and the idea that all people are entitled to all of these programs from government. Every decision is based on impulse, and the constitution just becomes an old out of date document. It's called (The I want it now syndrome), and I don't care who is negatively affected by it implementation. The only job of government is to make sure people are protected, and to execute the law when necessary. We have already broke this pledge many times, and we are suffering from it currently. These Lib's most be blind if they do not see this being played out in all of the bankrupted programs throughout our nation. Ther answer is more money, and to add onto our deficit. Great Idea!
I predict the Democrats will self-destruct, and let so many down they will lose their majority in the next elections. Their experiment has already started to go hay wire, and they have only been in charge for a few months. If they were smart they would be compromising with Republicans. If not they will have nobody else to blame. Look for the middle ground you Silly Liberals!
Another thoughtful and convincing reply from Mr. Mike! Yeah, I too thought it would take longer for people to begin to see that the Emperor has no clothes. Fortunately, this incredible spending is causing much of America to organize, protest, call their representatives, etc., and with the 2010 election coming, elected officials know they are being watched, and watched carefully.
Thanks for your comments….as always.
